The capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh is mostly a center of business interest not only among the middle eastern arab kingdoms but the world over. Culturally, Riyadh is pretty straight-laced with Islam being the cultural mainstay. Notwithstanding the confluence of its technological progress and cultural conservatism, Riyadh does offer a lot for the discerning traveller who cherishes exploring cultures and places.
Riyadh’s restaurants offer delicacies that serve up a fare for the senses, visual and gastronomical. The ambience of most top restaurants in Riyadh is almost picture perfect and the food even more so. Traditional Saudi cuisine is often favoured by most but for the adventurous few, there is french, italian, japanese and more.

Be it the large malls, larger boulevards or the lanes that resemble Arabian fables, Riyadh is a shopper’s utopia. The lanes of Souq al-Thumairi immediately south of the Masmak Fortress in the Al-Dira area offer great deals on most items essentially Saudi. The Kingdom Tower Mall has a separate floor for women and is one of the more famous malls of Saudi Arabia. The Al-Faisaliah Tower Mall is pretty popular with most local shoppers.
