GURUGRAM, September 26, 2018 : India’s favourite carrier - SpiceJet,
today announced the launch of five daily direct new flights connecting Kolkata like
never before. The airline has introduced new daily direct flights from the ‘cultural
capital’ of the country connecting it to the un-served market of Pakyong (Gangtok).
Pakyong marks the airline’s ninth destination under the regional connectivity scheme,
UDAN.
SpiceJet is the only Indian airline to provide air connectivity to Sikkim effective 4
October and connecting it to the rest of the country and beyond. The airline is also
the first and only airline to offer daily direct flights on the Kolkata-Kanpur-Kolkata
route effective 1 November. Additionally, the airline is also set to operate flights
connecting the holy city of Varanasi with Kolkata effective 4 October. SpiceJet has
also introduced a third frequency on the Kolkata-Bagdogra-Kolkata and the
Kolkata-Mumbai-Kolkata sectors starting 1 November.
Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Sales and Revenue Officer, SpiceJet said,
“SpiceJet is delighted to connect Kolkata, the country’s cultural capital, like never
before. The city known for its food, literature and theatre has a unique tourism
potential. Besides it is also the connecting gateway to key tourism hotspots like
Darjeeling. We are confident that the enhanced air connectivity will boost the state’s
growth prospects.”
SpiceJet celebrated the launch by announcing an introductory promotional fare of INR
3899 on the Kolkata-Varanasi route, INR 3589 on the Varanasi-Kolkata route, INR 3900 on
the Kolkata-Kanpur route, INR 3299 on the Kanpur-Kolkata route and INR 2680 for
Pakyong-Kolkata.
With the introduction of the new daily direct flight services, passengers from the
regional towns of Kanpur, Varanasi and Pakyong can now conveniently travel to a host of
other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple
onward connections from Kolkata.
Additionally, the airline will also introduced six new domestic flights. Reiterating its
commitment towards direct connectivity and enhancing operations on regional routes,
SpiceJet will introduce new direct flights on the Delhi-Coimbatore-Delhi and
Bengaluru-Madurai-Bengaluru sectors. SpiceJet is the first and only airline to
introduce daily direct services on the Bengaluru-Udaipur-Bengaluru sector.
Starting 8th October, the new flights introduced on the Delhi-Coimbatore will be
operational on all days and Bengaluru-Madurai flight will be operational on all days
except Tuesday. Flights between Bengaluru and Udaipur will commence from 7th November
and will operate on all days.
