Kolkata, 13 August, 2014: SpiceJet today inaugurated its first flight
connecting Kolkata- Bagdogra-Kathmandu. SpiceJet customers traveling from the City of Joy
and the hill station from the Darjeeling district will now have the opportunity to
experience the beauty of the capital city of Nepal at a promotional offer of just Rs. 99.
This flight will operate three times a week -- on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
This is SpiceJet's second service to Kathmandu from India, enhancing its operations from
the Tribhuvan International Airport. The airline already flies on Delhi-Kathmandu route. In
the last three months SpiceJet has flown close to 46700 customers on the Delhi-Kathmandu
route and 5260 customers have already booked the flights on the Kolkata-Bagdogra-Kathmandu
connection. This connection will further give impetus to not only facilitate tourism, but
also for the growth of trade between the two neighboring nations.
SpiceJet is the first Indian airline to operate on Kathmandu-Bagdogra route. This new three
times weekly Kathmandu flight is in addition to the 11 weekly direct flights SpiceJet
already operates on Delhi-Kathmandu route.
“We are extremely pleased with the response received for
our Kathmandu-Bagdogra-Kolkata connection. This direct service will provide our
customers flying from either regions much more convenience in terms of connectivity and
reach,” said Mr. Kaneswaran Avili, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet Ltd.
SpiceJet has deployed Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft on both these routes. Booking can
be made on www.spicejet.com or through online travel portals and agents. Customers
traveling by SpiceJet can also pre-book their meals to avoid last minute disappointments.
