Nanded

Nanded is the second largest city in the Marathwada region of Maharasthra. It was also a prominent city in the Mauryan Empire during the reign of emperor Ashoka the Great from 272 BC to 231 BC. Today Nanded gains prominence from the Sikh Gurudwara, which is erected at the same place where Shri Guru Govindsinghji Maharaj, the last Sikh Guru, breathed his last in 1708. The Vishnupuri dam constructed in 1988 nearby is a major attraction here which is one of the largest lift irrigation projects in Asia.
