SpiceJet launches Delhi-Tirupati flight

First and only airline to operate non-stop flights on the sector

GURUGRAM, October 17, 2021: SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline, today launched non-stop flights connecting the National Capital Delhi with Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. SpiceJet is the first and only airline in the country to operate non-stop flights on the sector. The airline already connects Tirupati with Hyderabad and Pune on its network.

Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia flagged-off SpiceJet’s inaugural flight from Delhi to Tirupati in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation, General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd), Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti, Sh. Prahlad Singh Patel, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Tirupati, Sh. Maddila Gurumoorthy, Hon’ble Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Smt. Usha Padhee and CMD of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh.

Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet said, “We are delighted to connect Delhi with Tirupati, one of the most-visited places of worship in the world, with an industry-first non-stop flight on our network. Our direct flight will offer convenience and easy mobility for pilgrims visiting the holy destination and we are confident that this route will see very good passenger numbers.”

To start with, SpiceJet will operate three-times-a-week (on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) on this sector effective 17th October, 2021. From 31st October 2021, the frequency will be increased to four-times-a-week including Mondays.

Known as the abode of the 'Kaliyuga' deity Lord Venkateswara popularly known as Balaji, the town of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh is famous for its temples, the most famous and popular of which is Sri Venkateswara Temple, which sits atop one of the seven peaks of Tirumala Hills at an elevation of 860 meters approximately.

SpiceJet will be deploying its Boeing 737 aircraft on this route. Bookings are now open on www.spicejet.com, SpiceJet’s mobile app and through online travel portals and travel agents.

With the launch of these flights, passengers from Tirupati can now conveniently travel to a host of other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via Delhi.
