SpiceJet chooses Amadeus as its first global distribution partner
Partnership will help SpiceJet reach out to new international markets and travellers across the globe

GURUGRAM, March 6, 2019: SpiceJet, the country’s favourite carrier, has appointed Amadeus as its first global distribution partner. The airline has signed a distribution agreement with Amadeus that gives Amadeus’ global network of travel sellers access to the airline’s range of fares and prices through the Amadeus Travel Platform.

This is the first time SpiceJet is working with a distribution partner to reach out to travelers across the globe. By connecting to travellers through the world’s largest community of travel sellers and buyers, the airline will be able to showcase its products on a global scale, access new markets and partners, and grow its customer base.

SpiceJet’s entire ticketing inventory will continue to be available to domestic travellers through existing channels as well as Amadeus with a different pricing model.

SpiceJet is India’s second biggest budget carrier operating, on an average, 516 daily flights to 59 destinations, which includes eight international destinations. The airline will soon start flying to Jeddah, which will be its ninth international destination. SpiceJet connects its network with a fleet of 48 Boeing 737 MAX and NG jets, 27 Bombardier Q-400s and one B737 freighter. It is also India’s largest regional player operating 23 daily flights under the regional connectivity scheme, UDAN.

Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said: “I am delighted to announce our new partnership with Amadeus which will help SpiceJet reach new customers both within and outside India. SpiceJet is in the midst of its most exciting growth phase and I am sure that this new distribution network will enable a large number of customers to connect with our huge domestic and growing international network.”

SpiceJet will be able to define and deliver enhanced offers, including rich content, to both travel agents and travellers. The airline will also be able to differentiate its travel offers beyond just price, while ensuring that agencies and travellers have all the information at hand in order to make the right purchasing decisions.

Offering travellers the opportunity to choose how, where and when to buy travel is fundamental to meeting their needs today. And if empowered to compare value instead of just price in the shopping process, travellers can instantly become an airline’s brand champion.

Cyril Tetaz, Executive Vice President, Airlines, Amadeus, Asia Pacific said, “With our partnership including distribution and IT solutions, we are very proud to support SpiceJet in its growth in India and beyond. Spice Jet will be able to differentiate its offers and empower travelers with the transparency and customization they need through our global travel network.

SpiceJet joins 440+ airlines, including 110+ LCCs and Hybrids, whose fares and merchandising content are bookable in Amadeus. With regards to IT, SpiceJet’s PSS provider is Navitaire, an Amadeus company.
