SpiceJet receives IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification
IOSA is the highest international benchmark for global safety management in airlines

GURUGRAM, February 22, 2019: SpiceJet, the country’s favourite carrier, has added yet another feather to its cap by achieving IATA’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certificate, the benchmark for global safety management in airlines. The IOSA certification is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.

SpiceJet has successfully completed the meticulous audit program which involves approximately 900 standards and recommended practices. The audit covers an exhaustive assessment of nine functional and operational areas inclusive of organization and management system, flight operations, operational control, flight dispatch, aircraft engineering and maintenance, cabin operations, ground handling operations, cargo operations and security management.

Ajay Singh – Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet said, “Safety has always been the top priority for us and the IOSA certification is an endorsement of the fact that SpiceJet is amongst the safest airlines in the world. IOSA certification involves a great deal of hard work and requires a significant commitment of people, time and resources. I would like to congratulate team SpiceJet for this achievement and making the last phase of our turnaround process a success.”

Globally acknowledged as the main instrument for safety and assessment, it helps airlines improve operational safety, and reduce the number of separate audits.

The audit is conducted by an IATA accredited audit organization, with formally trained and qualified auditors and in accordance with the IOSA Program manuals and standards. Even though the assessment mainly focuses on operational areas, it also includes accountability of organisational management functions relevant to aviation safety.
