SpiceJet connects Aizawl to rest of nation
Flags off direct flights on Aizawl-Kolkata & Aizawl-Guwahati routes

Aizawl, 4 October, 2016: SpiceJet, India’s favourite budget airline, is further enhancing its network connectivity this time with a special focus on North-East India. Fastening Aizawl on its pan India radar the airline today launched its direct flights on the Aizawl-Kolkata and Aizawl-Guwahati routes.

Hosted by Ms. Shilpa Bhatia – Sr. VP, Commercial, SpiceJet, the flag off ceremony at the Lengpui Airport was accomplished in the auspicious presence of Shri Lt. Gen Nirbhay Sharma, Governor of Mizoram.

Addressing a media gathering at Lengpui Airport here today, Ms. Shilpa Bhatia, Sr. VP - Commercial, SpiceJet, said, “Our new direct flights from Aizawl, Guwahati and Silchar reflect our seriousness and commitment of connecting North-East with rest of the nation through our increasing network. Aizawl, despite being a crucial destination within the north east region, has been deprived of good air connectivity. This is also because of the difficult terrain that Aizawl is situated in. The introduction of the new flights would not only give a boost to the air connectivity but it will also give more options to the passengers traveling to and from Aizawl”. With the new direct flights introduced, the daily flights on the entire airline’s network has increased to 317 daily flights to 44 destinations, including 38 domestic and 6 international ones. SpiceJet currently connects its network with a fleet of 29 Boeing 737NG and 14 Bombardier Q-400s.
