Hubli

Hubli is a major commercial centre and a famous city in Karnataka. Owing to its hectic commercial activity, the city has earned another title,'Chota Mumbai'.The place Hubli is always mentioned along with Dharwad (Hubli-Dharwad) which serves as the district headquarters. Located 408 kilometers from Bangalore, Hubli's temples and historic monuments set against the backdrop of Western Ghats, makes it a must visit place. Also known as the educational, music and cultural capital of Karnataka, Hubli has produced some well-known singers and poets and houses some of the best educational institutes in the country.   • Unakal Siddeshwara Jatra Mahotsava (January)
    Unkal Jatra Mahotsava, most popularly known as Unkal Jatra Mahotsava, is celebrated at the 110 years old Unkal lake. This festival runs for about one week and ends with the Ratha Yatra of Sri Siddappajja. The idol of Sri Siddappajja gets carried out on a decorated car along the streets of Unkal which is accompanied by devotees carrying 'poorna kumbha' and folk artistes with their lively performances. Many cultural programmes are held during this festival which is attended by huge numbers of devotees.
  • Dharwad Utsav (November - December)
    Dharwad Utsav is a day long festival of Hindustani music concert held annually in the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad in the month of November- December. The celebrations are marked by music, dance, theater, painting, Janapada & other events.
